In Tashkent, the “Bychka” gang extorting money from taxi drivers was exposed

In Tashkent, the activities of an organized criminal group that had been systematically demanding money from taxi drivers were stopped. According to law enforcement, the suspects introduced a monthly “fee” for drivers traveling from Tashkent Region to the capital’s Yashnobod district. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said the group intimidated drivers who refused to pay through violence. In one recorded case, the group leader and his accomplices allegedly beat a Damas driver, seized the keys to his vehicle—his source of income—and inflicted bodily injuries on the victim.

According to the investigation, another driver was taken $810 in advance for two months. When he could not pay in full, he was banned from operating on the route.

The MIA noted that the group’s head is a 37-year-old previously convicted man nicknamed “Bychok,” who has been held liable three times for hooliganism. A criminal case has now been opened over extortion.

Law enforcement urged citizens who suffered from the group’s actions to contact the internal affairs authorities.
