Propane prices have increased: What are the reasons and what does the future hold?

In Uzbekistan, the Competition Committee provided an official explanation regarding the increase in liquefied gas prices — propane. According to the organization, the price increase is mainly due to the share of imported products. Recently, market prices, especially for imported propane, have been shaped by the increase in the share of imported propane.
In the first half of 2025, a total of 358,000 tons of liquefied gas were sold through the exchange. Of this, 61% was local product, and 39% was imported. However, since August, the share of local gas in the domestic market has significantly decreased. In December 2025, the share of local propane was 35%, and by January 2026, it had dropped to 10%. This is mainly due to the fact that local gas is directed primarily to the population and social sector objects.
The Competition Committee emphasized that the price of local propane has remained almost unchanged. Local propane did not exceed 7 million soums per ton, while the price of imported propane has increased to 9–9.5 million soums. This represents an increase of nearly 20% compared to December.
The Committee also stated that continuous monitoring of retail fuel prices at gas stations is being conducted and warned that the spread of baseless information on social networks could disrupt market balance. The public is urged to be cautious and refrain from believing such information.
The increase in propane prices is having a serious impact on the market. For updates on changes and their potential future effects, it is important to consult reliable sources.
