In Uzbekistan, AI will detect officials’ family ties

In Uzbekistan, the fight against cronyism and conflicts of interest in the civil service is moving into a digital phase. A new artificial intelligence-based system is expected to quickly and accurately show oversight bodies hidden connections between officials. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .
Akmal Burkhanov, Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, told UzA in an interview that a Risk Analysis Center is being established under the agency. Databases from 30 ministries and agencies will be integrated into the center, and checks that previously were done manually and took a long time will be automated.
One of the main areas of the new system will be the my.mehnat.uz portal. Through this platform, AI will be able to automatically identify employees whose direct supervisor is a close relative.
In addition, the algorithms will analyze data on soliq.uz and compare information about officials with the founders of private companies. This will help quickly expose potential conflicts of interest in public procurement, including cases where tenders are won by firms owned by family members of the person who organized the bidding.
The system will not be limited to HR and financial indicators: it will also analyze Electronic criminal-law statistics data and is aimed at identifying systemic causes of corruption and risk factors at an early stage.
According to the agency head, whereas such in-depth risk analysis used to take 5–6 days, a digital report will now be ready within an hour. This approach will enable the state not only to record consequences but to stop conflicts of interest as soon as they arise, increase transparency in appointments, and strengthen fair competition in the public sector.
