The interdistrict civil court of Uchtepa ruled to recover 300 million soums from the state budget in favor of entrepreneur Dilshod Mingboyev, who headed the “Sadaf” company. He spent five years in prison, and the charges brought against him were later found to be unfounded. This was reported by podrobno.uz. reports .
According to MY5, the court ordered the moral damages compensation to be paid from the funds of the regional targeted fund under the Tashkent Region khokimiyat. Mingboyev initially sought 1 billion soums, but the claim was partially satisfied.
The case began in 2011: the entrepreneur was found guilty of violating customs legislation and sentenced to eight years in prison. He spent five years in a penal colony before the verdict was reviewed.
In 2020, the supervisory instance of Uzbekistan’s Supreme Court re-examined the case materials, fully overturned the most serious charges against Mingboyev, and acknowledged that his detention had been unjustified. After a full acquittal, the entrepreneur exercised his right to recover damages caused by unlawful actions of investigative and judicial authorities.
Although the compensation amount is three times lower than the sum claimed, Dilshod Mingboyev told the press that he is satisfied with the court ruling and, most importantly, that his innocence has been officially recognized.
