As part of the financial technology support program, Uzbekistan plans to implement unified standards for QR code payments by 2026. The Central Bank, together with financial institutions, has been tasked with launching a pilot project for a universal QR code by the end of this year.
At the beginning of next year, documents related to this technology are planned to be developed and approved. The unified QR code system is expected to be operational in February 2024.
Additionally, it should be noted that, starting from September of next year, the open banking system will be launched in Uzbekistan. This platform will allow banks, payment organizations, and financial technology companies to securely exchange information.
