In Uzbekistan, plans are underway to free citizens from "salary bondage" and introduce new financial technology services. These changes are outlined in the "roadmap" for the development of fintech approved by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on November 27.
According to the document, by December 2025, the Central Bank will create a mechanism allowing citizens to choose their preferred bank or payment system to receive their salaries. This initiative aims to provide customers with greater freedom and enhance competition among banks.
Additionally, by June 2026, a mass parallel payment system will be implemented. This system will enable employers to transfer salaries to multiple banks simultaneously, freeing employees from dependency on a specific financial institution.
Moreover, by February 2026, a rapid payment system will be introduced to facilitate P2P (person-to-person) transfers via phone numbers. Funds will also be transferable using any application through Open API.
