Uzbekistan to update its Defense Doctrine and National Security Concept

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to review the country’s Defense Doctrine and National Security Concept.

According to the head of state, the current documents are outdated: the Defense Doctrine was adopted eight years ago, while the National Security Concept dates back to 1997. Rapidly evolving threats today require new approaches.

The new Defense Doctrine should preserve Uzbekistan’s non-aligned status, rely on multilateral diplomacy, and focus on strengthening high technologies, military self-reliance, and regional stability. The president noted that the doctrine will serve as a basis for the army’s technological modernization and the introduction of advanced military solutions.
