Uzbekistan plans to introduce a fee for patients who visit narrow specialists without a referral. The relevant document was approved at the first reading in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
Under the draft, those who visit a specialist doctor without a referral from a family doctor or a medical team will pay for the appointment. Emergency and ambulance care cases will be exempt.
The document also stipulates that the right to work in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors will be granted only to specialists registered by the state. Diplomas of medical university graduates are expected to be automatically registered in the database after final attestation.
