New migration rules take effect from February 5

New migration rules take effect from February 5
Starting February 5, new rules regarding illegal migrants come into effect in Russia. Foreigners residing in the country without legal grounds will be added to a registry of controlled individuals until they are deported or leave voluntarily.

Migrants included in the registry will face several restrictions, including:
* A ban on changing their place of residence without permission from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
* Restrictions on moving to another region without prior notification.
* A prohibition on purchasing real estate and vehicles.
* The inability to enter into marriage.
* A ban on registering a business or working as an individual entrepreneur.
* Limitations on opening bank accounts and conducting certain financial transactions.

Repeated violations of these restrictions will result in deportation and possible placement in a special facility under the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Additionally, if a minor is classified as an undesirable migrant, this status will automatically extend to their parents. Grounds for designating a foreigner as undesirable include repeated deportations, criminal records, or the use of forged documents.

Furthermore, the list of officials authorized to expel migrants has been expanded. In addition to judges and border service officers, police chiefs and their deputies, heads of migration services, and officials responsible for drug control can now issue deportation orders. This allows law enforcement to independently expel individuals for various violations, such as failure to comply with entry or residency regulations. Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs has already updated its directives to implement these new measures.
