A cat named Leonardo da Pinci steals neighbors’ clothes

In New Zealand, a woman named Helen North says that over the past nine months, her cat has brought home around 150 stolen items. This surprising case has been widely covered by local media, according to Pravilamag.

According to Helen, her cat Leonardo da Pinci returns home almost daily with a new “find.” Interestingly, he doesn’t do anything with the items — just drops them on the floor and walks away.

“He mostly steals underwear and socks,” says Helen. “But he doesn’t shy away from other clothing either: expensive T-shirts, brand-new clothes with tags, soft toys, gardening gloves, sports shorts, hats... the list goes on.”

On one occasion, Leonardo even brought home a 1.5-meter (about 5 feet) toy snake. “He brought it home twice. Clearly, he really liked that toy,” Helen adds.

Helen North is now using local social media groups to try to return the stolen items to their rightful owners. She says that so far, neighbors are taking Leonardo’s behavior with good humor, and the situation brings smiles to many faces.
