Recently, there has been a sharp increase in cases where some fraudsters deceive citizens of Uzbekistan by promising high-paying jobs in Turkey. These fraudulent schemes are mostly carried out through acquaintances and informal connections.
Fraudsters give false promises regarding employment, housing, and documentation, putting our compatriots in difficult situations.
What problems can arise from illegal work activity?
If someone trusts such fraudsters and begins illegal work activity in Turkey, they may face the following serious consequences:
- Promised wages are either not paid or significantly underpaid;
- Harsh and unsafe working conditions, lack of proper safety at the workplace;
- Abuse or pressure from the employer, sometimes even exploitation;
- Deportation and heavy fines for illegal employment;
- After receiving money, the agent disappears and the promised airport pickup never happens.
What permit is required for legal employment?
Any foreigner wishing to work in Turkey must have a legal work permit — Çalışma İzni. This document is issued by the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Labor and Migration Affairs.
If this permit is not available, employment is considered illegal and may lead to the consequences listed above.
Be cautious and warn your loved ones
To avoid falling victim to such fraud:
- Never travel abroad without official documentation and a signed contract;
- Demand full information and a valid license from anyone offering work;
- Obtain accurate information about working conditions, visas, and permits directly from the embassy or Turkish authorities.
