Lauren Bannon, a U.S. resident, had been concerned about her health for several months. Starting from February 2024, her little finger became stiff in the mornings and evenings, making it difficult to bend. Lauren consulted doctors who diagnosed her with rheumatoid arthritis. However, tests for this condition came back negative.
Several months later, Lauren began experiencing severe stomach pain. This time, doctors attributed her condition to acid reflux. But Lauren grew skeptical about the doctors' diagnoses and decided to enter her symptoms into the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot.
Remarkably, the AI immediately and accurately suggested that Lauren had Hashimoto's disease, an autoimmune condition characterized by inflammation of the thyroid gland. When Lauren took this information to her doctor, the specialist dismissed the possibility of her having such a condition, arguing that there were no cases in her family.
However, Lauren insisted and requested doctors to test her for Hashimoto's disease. Test results confirmed she indeed had the condition. Furthermore, an ultrasound examination of her thyroid gland revealed two cancerous tumors in her neck.
In January 2025, Lauren underwent surgery to remove her thyroid gland and two lymph nodes. She remains under medical supervision today.
Lauren states that if ChatGPT hadn't indicated this diagnosis, doctors might have missed the cancer, as she didn't exhibit the classic symptoms of Hashimoto's disease.
"My doctor told me I was fortunate because the disease was detected at an early stage. I am certain that if I hadn't used artificial intelligence, the cancer would have spread," says Lauren Bannon.
This case once again demonstrates how beneficial artificial intelligence can be in the medical field. Lauren's story has amazed millions and may open new opportunities in this area. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
