Starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices will be prohibited in all primary and secondary schools in Belgium. This decision aims to make the learning process more effective, focus students’ attention on studies, and reduce the time spent in front of screens.
According to national media reports, although the country’s three language communities have adopted different regulations, the ban will be applied in all regions. Consequently, primary and secondary school students will not be allowed to use mobile phones, tablets, or other personal electronic devices during lessons.
Education experts emphasize that this change will help develop students’ social skills, increase attention in class, and reduce distractions from social media. Parents are advised to place devices in special storage areas if they need to bring them to school.
Experts also note that this measure will teach children to use technology responsibly, manage time correctly, and enhance learning efficiency. The ban on mobile phones in Belgian schools is expected to take effect in the 2025–2026 academic year and is considered a significant reform in the country’s education system.
