In Afghanistan, male doctors were given the religious right to examine female patients

A statement was made that in Afghanistan, male doctors are treated as "mahrams" in relation to female patients within the framework of clinical practice. Afghanistan's Minister of Communications, Hamdulla Nomani, stated that doctors are granted religious rights, allowing them to see parts of a woman's body that other men are generally prohibited from seeing, due to medical necessity.

In his speech, the minister noted that in some cases, even looking at the woman's face is restricted. However, it was stated that such restrictions would not apply to doctors in the medical process.

"As a minister, I have no right to look a woman in the face. But you, doctors, are given such a right. When a woman is lying on the operating table, all her limbs are in front of you, and you are even allowed to take off your clothes," Nomani said.

At the same time, he called on doctors not to abuse the given right. The Minister emphasized that this permission should be applied only within the framework of medical necessity and professional responsibility.
