88-year-old disappearance secrets are being revealed to the public.

In the United States, one of the most mysterious events in 20th-century aviation has once again come into the spotlight. President Donald Trump issued an order to declassify and publish government documents related to the case of the famous female pilot Amelia Earhart, who disappeared without a trace during a flight in 1937. He announced this personally on the social network Truth Social.

“Many people have asked me about the life and times of Amelia Earhart, about this fascinating event and her final, tragic flight. Therefore, I am considering the possibility of declassifying and making public all the materials connected with her, especially the documents kept by the government,” Trump wrote.

The president described Earhart’s disappearance as “an event that captured the imagination of millions of people.” According to him, the documents may reveal not only details of her final flight but also new facts concerning the pilot’s entire life.

It is known that in 1937 Amelia Earhart, together with navigator Fred Noonan, embarked on a round-the-world flight on a Lockheed L-10E Electra aircraft. Most of the route was completed successfully, but on July 2 the crew failed to reach Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean and disappeared without a trace. The aircraft was supposed to refuel there.

At that time, President Franklin Roosevelt allocated 4 million dollars for search operations and deployed dozens of aircraft and ships. However, neither Earhart nor her navigator was found. Only later it was reported that the wreckage of the aircraft was discovered on the ocean floor.

The reasons for the disappearance still give rise to various theories: a forced landing on the ocean and death, capture by Japanese forces, or even “living under another name.”

Amelia Earhart (1897–1937) was one of the symbolic figures of her time. In 1932, she made history as the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. This feat brought her worldwide fame and marked the beginning of the “era of women” in aviation.

Trump’s decision raises hopes not only for the disclosure of historical mysteries but also for answers to questions that society has been discussing for many decades.
