The death toll from heavy monsoon rains and storms in the Philippines has risen to 26. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council (NDRRMC), nearly 2.8 million people have been affected by the disaster. This was reported by the PNA agency.
According to officials, 33 people were injured in the incident, and another 14 citizens were listed as missing. It was also reported that more than 8,900 apartments were damaged.
Typhoon "Ragasa," which caused the disaster, formed as a tropical storm in the Pacific Ocean on September 16 and turned into a super typhoon when it reached the northeastern coast. Wind speeds reached up to 260 kilometers per hour.
In response, the governments of the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong took measures to warn the population and prepare for emergencies.
