Austrian entrepreneur Bernd Bergmayr, who previously owned adult entertainment platforms including PornHub, is planning to purchase Lukoil’s foreign assets, Reuters reported. Bergmayr has reportedly approached the U.S. Department of the Treasury with a proposal regarding the acquisition of the Russian company’s assets.
He confirmed his interest in the deal but has not disclosed further details. "Of course, I do not comment on potential investments," Bergmayr stated through his attorney.
Currently, Lukoil’s foreign assets include oilfields in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and other distant foreign countries. Additionally, the company owns a global network of fuel stations.
Bergmayr previously owned MindGeek, a company that managed adult platforms such as Pornhub, RedTube, and YouPorn. In 2023, he sold MindGeek to a Canadian investment firm, though the financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Previously, interest in acquiring Lukoil’s assets had also been expressed by Gunvor, a trading company, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), a state-owned enterprise of the United Arab Emirates. The Emirati company particularly focused on assets in Uzbekistan.
