An elephant attacked the car of Russian tourists in Sri Lanka

Russian tourists faced a dangerous incident during their vacation in Sri Lanka — an elephant attacked their vehicle. This was reported by the publication “Life”. The incident was widely discussed on social media and once again raised the issue of tourist safety.

According to available information, a Russian family with their child and friends were traveling in a rented car to one of Sri Lanka’s national parks. On a certain section of the road, they encountered a Sri Lankan elephant weighing nearly three tons. At that moment, the animal appeared in the middle of the road and blocked the car’s movement.

According to local residents, elephants often block the road in order to receive sweets or fruit from tourists and, after receiving a “gift,” allow the vehicles to pass. One of the Russian women gave fruit to the elephant, but after that, the animal unexpectedly became aggressive. In other words, a situation that usually ends with a “gift” took a completely different turn this time.

The elephant shook the vehicle, tore off the car door, and tried to overturn it. Panicked tourists ran out of the car barefoot. It is noted that, fearing for their lives, they tried to get away from the dangerous place as quickly as possible.

After a few minutes, the elephant calmed down, and the tourists were able to continue their journey. As a result of the incident, no one was injured. On their way back, they took the torn-off door with them. This once again shows that a “travel souvenir” sometimes means not only a photo, but also a car door.
