Kangaroos at a cycling race in Australia: a surprising event (video)

During the Tour Down Under cycling race in Australia, an unexpected "road barrier" appeared - two kangaroos instantly jumped onto the track, causing a group of cyclists to overturn. The incident reportedly occurred on the roundabout around Sterling in South Australia, approximately 96-100 kilometers from the finish line.

The most painful thing is that there is no consolation here: there is still a long distance ahead, the speed is high, the peloton is dense. In such conditions, if the animals get out onto the road, several people will brake simultaneously, several people won't make it in time - and a chain fall is ready. According to some sources, several cyclists were unable to continue the race.

Jay Van, a member of the UAE Team Emirates-XRG team that won the race, also reacted to this situation. He says that when asked what is the most dangerous thing in Australia, he often answers that it is kangaroos - because they can hide in the bushes and unexpectedly jump in front of you. This time, the same scenario was repeated.

The Tour Down Under is a multi-day road cycling race held annually in South Australia, usually starting on the second Tuesday of January and consisting of six stages. The competition was first held in 1999.

The conclusion is simple: sports in Australia also comes with an "extreme package" - because here the opponent is not only a stopwatch, but nature itself. And for the fans, this event reminded them once again: every meter on the track is a "test of vigilance" for both the beloved team and the athlete.
