According to Uzbekistan's Embassy in Hungary, the number of complaints from Uzbek labor migrants working in Croatia and Serbia has been increasing. The most common issues include systematic non-payment or delays in salaries, as well as difficulties in obtaining work permits.
It was noted that these cases are primarily linked to employment through illegal intermediaries. Instances of demanding additional payments for previously paid services, threatening deportation if extra fees are refused, and sudden dismissals from jobs have also been reported in these countries.
The embassy strongly advises citizens to seek employment abroad only through licensed employment agencies and to refrain from using tourist or guest visas for work purposes. The diplomatic mission reminded that such violations could result in a ban on entering the Schengen area for up to five years and lead to deportation.
The embassy also encouraged citizens to thoroughly review employment contracts before signing them and to promptly contact the consular section in case of any issues. Diplomats emphasized that only legal employment activities can ensure the genuine protection of the rights and interests of Uzbek citizens abroad.
