“Stranger Things,” one of Netflix's most popular projects, has once again caused a global sensation. According to data published by Variety on December 24, 2025, the series has been viewed more than 1.2 billion times overall.
The fifth season of the series achieved remarkable results in a short time. In just 25 days, this season was viewed 102.6 million times, earning a place among the top 10 most popular English-language streaming shows. This achievement is also considered historically significant for Netflix.
Another noteworthy aspect is that the final episode of the series will be screened for the first time on the big screen in cinemas in the United States and Canada on December 31. This marks a rare experience for Netflix series. Additionally, the production of the series has made a significant contribution to the U.S. economy, generating $1.4 billion in gross domestic product revenue.
The series' popularity has not only been evident on screens but also demonstrated a significant impact on cultural markets. Following its release, interest in board games surged by 673%. Meanwhile, listener streams for 1980s musical hits increased by 1,250%, showcasing the strong nostalgic and pop-cultural influence of the series.
Interestingly, a theatrical adaptation staged ahead of the series premiere also achieved great success. It has already been awarded four Tony Awards and two Olivier Awards.
Although the main parts of the series have concluded, the story isn't ending there. Netflix executives are planning to expand the “Stranger Things” universe through new spin-off series, media projects, and various formats. This means the story will continue for fans for a long time to come.
