The Uzbek company Akfa has commenced construction of a new plant in Kentucky, USA. Investments for the project amount to a total of $600 million, stated Tashkent Mayor Jahongir Ortiqkhojaev during an interview with the "Uzbekistan 24" television channel.
According to the plan, the plant will specialize in the production of aluminum products, spare parts for automobiles, and components for solar panels. Ortiqkhojaev noted that $105 million will be allocated for the first phase of the project.
An unidentified Turkish company has also been involved in the construction process. Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans for Uzbekistan to purchase goods from the U.S. through 2028 and invest $35 billion in the economy. Over the next decade, this figure is expected to exceed $100 billion.
In addition, Tashkent has plans to collaborate with U.S. companies in the field of rare earth resources. Uzbekistan is also set to purchase 22 aircraft from the American corporation Boeing, as well as soybeans and soybean meal from American agricultural producers.
Furthermore, Tashkent and Washington aim to establish cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and water-saving technologies. Uzbekistan's Ministry of Digital Technologies intends to purchase cluster equipment for artificial intelligence from Nvidia.
