Around the world, various studies are conducted on human health and the factors of longevity. Recently, scientists reached another interesting conclusion: having breakfast within two hours after waking up is very important.
According to research data, delayed breakfast may negatively affect the human body and shorten life expectancy. Researchers reported that each hour of delay increases the risk of premature death by an average of 8–11 percent.
In trials conducted in the United Kingdom, nearly 3,000 elderly people participated. Scientists analyzed their daily eating habits and noted that there is a direct link between the time of morning meals and life expectancy.
At the same time, experts emphasized that additional research is needed to fully confirm this conclusion. Since a person’s life expectancy is influenced not only by breakfast, but also by lifestyle in general, physical activity, genetics, and healthy eating.
Nevertheless, many nutrition experts recommend having breakfast within one or two hours after waking up. In their opinion, such a habit helps keep blood sugar levels stable, activates metabolism, and allows a person to start the day in accordance with the circadian rhythm.
Additional studies conducted by scientists also proved that early breakfast improves blood glucose levels and enhances the body’s response to one of the important hormones — GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) after eating. This may improve carbohydrate metabolism and reduce the risk of diabetes and similar diseases.
Experts stress that for anyone who wants to lead a healthy lifestyle, early breakfast is an important step. Proper and quality nutrition at the beginning of the day not only provides energy but may also contribute to longevity.
