Turkmenistan changes security minister: new appointment announced

Another important personnel change has taken place in the security structures of Turkmenistan. The country's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has dismissed the Minister of National Security Nazar Atagaraev from his post. This decision was reportedly made during a meeting of the State Security Council.
According to official information, Nazar Atagaraev was dismissed from his post due to his "transfer to another job." That is, in the usual official phrase, the door was not closed - the direction was just changed.
Major Dovletgeldy Meredov was appointed as the new head of the ministry. It was noted that he previously headed the presidential security service. Thus, the new minister comes as a "seasoned" person in the system, well versed in practice.
It is worth recalling that the Ministry of National Security of Turkmenistan is the main body responsible for security and intelligence in the country. Such tasks as ensuring state security, combating terrorism, and controlling strategic networks are assigned to this structure. Therefore, each appointment here is not a simple “personnel list”, but also indicates the direction and priorities in the power bloc.
The text also provides another important background: on February 10, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree on the early termination of the powers of the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of the country, Kamchibek Tashiev. It is also noted that his deputies, Daniil Risaliev, Kurbanbek Avazov, Elizar Smanov, and Secretary of the Security Council Rustam Mamasodikov, were also dismissed from their posts.
In short, a “reset” mood is felt in security systems throughout the region. For fans, the conclusion is simple: such changes may affect subsequent decisions, priorities, and procedures in the state apparatus. Yes, it's rare to have a "quiet week" in politics - but it's always better for everyone if everything becomes systematic and predictable.
