Another unpleasant incident in Tashkent region has drawn public attention. In Preschool No. 6 of Yukorichirchik district, children were reportedly served sweets of questionable quality, some of which were even burnt. An official complaint regarding the issue was submitted to the relevant authorities.
According to the complaint, such cases had been observed before. The food given to children was prepared without compliance with nutritional standards and composition, and meals were reportedly made “beautiful and tasty” only before inspections.
The Tashkent Regional Department of Preschool and School Education provided an official statement on the situation. On October 8, a working group was formed consisting of officials from the district education department and specialists from the Department of Sanitary-Epidemiological Wellbeing and Public Health.
During the inspection, it was revealed that the incident occurred on September 16 during lunchtime. The cook, A.E., had burnt the pastries while baking, and the educator, J.E., served them to the children in that condition. However, one of the staff members — S.P. — noticed the problem, did not give the sweets to the children, and even warned the suppliers to prevent such repeated mistakes.
It was also discovered that the institution’s nurse, D.Kh., had marked these products in official documents as “quality and suitable for consumption.” This act was classified as negligence.
As a result of the investigation, the cook A.E., hired by an outsourcing company, was dismissed for gross misconduct in performing her duties. The head of the preschool, S.M., was officially reprimanded for weak oversight, and nurse D.Kh. received a disciplinary penalty in the form of an official warning.
Currently, the food system and product quality at Preschool No. 6 are under strict supervision by the district sanitary department. Measures are being taken to eliminate the identified shortcomings.
Experts emphasize that providing healthy and safe food to children is the primary responsibility of every educational institution. Therefore, such cases must remain under public scrutiny, and every responsible employee must approach their duties conscientiously.
Thus, the incident in Yukorichirchik has once again raised the issue of responsibility and oversight across the entire preschool education system.
