An attempt to illegally import jewelry into the country was uncovered at a border customs post in the Navoi region. According to investigators, gold and silver items totaling more than 440 million soums were discovered in this case.
According to the information, during a personal inspection of one of the passengers at the border crossing, it was discovered that he had jewelry made of gold metal weighing 360 grams, specially hidden in his body parts. Interestingly, the passenger did not provide information about such items during the oral inquiry.
Customs officers promptly began checking other passengers as well. As a result, jewelry made of silver with a total weight of 819 grams, placed in special packages, was found in the pockets of another person. It turned out that they were also not indicated in the documents and were planned to be transported secretly.
Currently, appropriate investigations are being conducted on both cases. Analysts note that in recent months, there has been an increase in cases of illegal importation of valuables at customs posts.
Investigators emphasize that such illegal actions pose a threat not only to economic legality but also to cultural heritage. Because, in some cases, illegally transported items can have national value as historical monuments.
Currently, customs authorities have opened proceedings on all cases, and explanations are being obtained from the suspects.
