Since the beginning of the year, 155 girls have been married off before reaching adulthood

Minister of Health Asilbek Khudayarov announced in an interview with the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel, following the meeting led by the President on October 14, that since the beginning of 2025, 155 girls aged 15–17 have gotten married early, the UZ24.uz website reported.

According to the Minister, the President made critical remarks about early marriages among youth, especially girls. It was also emphasized that marriages among relatives are still occurring.

The Minister stated that these situations increase the risk of having children with disabilities. It was also noted that getting pregnant twice within one calendar year, weak health, and the birth of frail babies are among the issues being observed.
