New rules for mopeds and scooters come into force

Starting from October 1, new rules for moped and scooter riders have come into effect. From now on, such vehicles can only be operated by individuals holding a category “A” driver’s license.

According to the new regulations, every moped and scooter must be registered and have a state license plate. In addition, the vehicle must fully comply with technical requirements.

Experts note that these changes are aimed at improving road safety, strengthening traffic order, and reducing the number of road accidents. In recent years, the number of traffic incidents involving mopeds and scooters has been increasing.

According to official statistics, since the beginning of 2025, 303 traffic accidents involving such vehicles have occurred. Among them, 259 people sustained various injuries, and unfortunately, 53 lost their lives.

The Road Safety Department and law enforcement agencies emphasize that this measure is an important step toward increasing responsibility on the roads, particularly among young drivers.

From now on, citizens planning to purchase a moped or scooter must first complete driving courses and obtain a category “A” license. Administrative penalties are also established for those who violate this requirement.

Experts believe that the new system not only strengthens control but also helps develop a culture of safe driving among the population. If every road user follows the rules, the number of tragedies can be significantly reduced.

Thus, a new era begins for moped and scooter drivers — following the rules and ensuring safety on the road is a shared responsibility for everyone.
