More than 27 thousand marriages were annulled in Uzbekistan in 9 months

In Uzbekistan, there has been a sharp increase in divorce cases during the first nine months of this year, the Supreme Court's press service reported.

According to the data, more than 52,000 applications for divorce have been received by the courts. Of these, more than 27 thousand marriages were officially annulled. This indicator shows that the number of family conflicts and divorces in the country is increasing every year.

According to the information of the Supreme Court, in January-September 2025, civil courts issued more than 1.1 million court orders to collect more than 8.2 trillion soums of mandatory payments. These payments include alimony, wages, debts, and utility bills.

In addition, the courts considered about 472 thousand civil cases. Of these, claims were satisfied in more than 365 thousand cases, more than 56 thousand claims were rejected, the rest were left without consideration or proceedings were suspended.

Among the cases considered, more than 52 thousand cases were related to divorce. Of these, 27,578 cases resulted in divorce, and in 18,430 cases, the court attempted to reconcile the couples.

In addition, it was noted that more than 19 thousand cases on housing issues, 2.8 thousand cases on establishing paternity, and more than 9 thousand cases on the demolition of unauthorized buildings were considered.

The report notes that the majority of civil cases consisted of family disputes and property issues. According to the Supreme Court, the main reason for most divorce cases is economic difficulties and a loss of mutual trust.

Thousands of cases were also considered in appellate and cassation procedures. At the level of regional courts, more than 9.6 thousand cases were reviewed, of which 1.7 thousand decisions were overturned. In the audit procedure, 4.2 thousand cases were considered, and 363 decisions were overturned.

At the same time, the Judicial Collegium for Civil Cases of the Supreme Court, having reviewed 257 cases at the revision stage, amended or overturned decisions on more than half of them.

According to experts, the increase in the number of divorces is associated with social and economic processes in society. They urge families to resolve their problems through legal means.

Thus, judicial statistics show that serious changes are taking place in the country in the sphere of family relations - on the one hand, divorces are increasing, and on the other hand, citizens are becoming more active in protecting their rights.
