Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso is conducting a thorough analysis of Barcelona's tactical shortcomings ahead of El Clásico, according to Defensa Central.
According to sources, Alonso sees the lack of defensive activity of young and talented Barcelona player Lamin Yamal as Barcelona's main weakness.
It is said that the coach said at the team meeting:
"We must start the attack from that very wing. Yamal is dangerous in attack, but he doesn't turn back. From here, we can cause serious damage to the opponent," Alonso said.
According to Alonso, Vinicius Junior and Alvaro Carreras could take advantage of Yamal's absence from defense and put pressure on Barcelona's right wing. At the same time, central striker Kylian Mbappé is also expected to move to the left wing, further increasing pressure on Jules Kounde's position.
According to the tactical plan, Real Madrid aims to extend the opponent's defense through the wings in attacks and utilize free spots through quick passes.
As a reminder, last season Barcelona triumphed over Real Madrid, winning four matches with a total of 16:7. Under the leadership of Hansi Flick, the Catalan club reached the top of the Spanish Cup, Super Cup, and La Liga.
This time, the El Clásico is expected to be interesting not only in terms of traditional competition, but also in terms of tactical confrontation.
This will also be the first El Clasico for Marcus Rashford, who came on loan from Manchester United. The 26-year-old English striker has contributed with 3 goals and 5 assists in 11 appearances for Barcelona this season.
Thus, both teams are preparing for El Clásico in their own way - Barcelona will field their new leaders, while Alonso's team has already identified the opponent's weakest point.
