Incentives for Private Clinics

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed a review of medical service fees at the country's medical centers and proposed directing health insurance funds to private clinics if they can provide these services more affordably and with higher quality. The head of state emphasized that 30 percent of medical services are already contributed by the private sector, which has also been the source of many innovative initiatives.

The President expressed his willingness to consider proposals for expanding public-private partnerships. Tax exemptions for the import of medical equipment and ambulances have been extended for another three years.

The value-added tax (VAT) refund benefit currently applied to food enterprises will now also be extended to private medical organizations. A $200 million credit line will be allocated to entrepreneurs for establishing modern multi-specialty clinics.

Over the past eight years, the number of private clinics and laboratories has tripled, reaching 9,000, while the number of hospital beds has increased to 57,000.
