Uzbekistan–Tajikistan border to see planned construction of a logistics center

A new logistics center is planned to be built on the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan state border. According to the Khovar agency, the area around the “Oybek — Fotehobod” border crossing point is being considered as the main site for the project. This was reported by Kursiv.uz. reports .
Preparatory work is currently underway, including an assessment of the center’s economic efficiency. It is noted that these stages are being carried out with financial support from the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Technical Assistance Fund.
The initiative is expected to become Tajikistan’s first experience in piloting a public-private partnership (PPP) mechanism in the transport sector. According to EDB representatives, the new logistics hub could help further optimize cargo transportation processes.
Earlier, the two countries also discussed the possibility of establishing a trade and industrial zone in the “Oybek — Fotehobod” checkpoint area, including logistics and production infrastructure.
