"Liverpool" secured a 2-1 victory over "Tottenham" in the 17th round of the English Premier League (EPL). The hosts were reduced to nine men at the end of the match due to the expulsions of Xavi Simons and Romero.
Nevertheless, "Tottenham," thanks to Richarlison's goal, managed to keep the intrigue alive until the final moments of the game. While the match started with few dramatic moments, the visitors gradually took control on the field.
"Tottenham" responded with fast counterattacks led by Kudus. The pivotal moment of the game came when Xavi Simons committed a reckless foul on Van Dijk.
After a VAR review, the referee awarded Simons a direct red card. Additionally, "Liverpool" began to apply more pressure near Vicario's goal.
In the second half, the Merseyside team introduced Isak into the match, which proved effective. In the 57th minute, Isak capitalized on an error by Romero and opened the scoring.
The following goal was a result of Frimpong's swift movement on the wing. Ekitike outpaced Romero in an aerial duel, increasing the scoreline to 0-2.
"Tottenham" created an opportunity through Kolo Muani, but his shot struck the crossbar. The hosts made substitutions to strengthen their attacks.
Richarlison took advantage of a mistake by the visitors to reduce the deficit. However, in the 90th minute, Romero received a second yellow card and was sent off.
In the end, "Tottenham" finished the match with nine players and, unable to equalize, suffered a defeat.
