The head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, Fabio Cannavaro, participated in the ceremony of carrying the Olympic flame. This was reported by international news sources. The ceremonial event took place in Cannavaro's hometown, Naples, Italy, turning the occasion into a celebration for sports fans.

Alongside Cannavaro, several prominent figures from Italian sports also participated in the ceremony. Among them were Olympic rowing champion Giuseppe Abbagnale, former footballer Ciro Ferrara, and other renowned sports stars. Their participation in the relay created unforgettable scenes for the citizens of Naples.

A festive atmosphere prevailed across the city. The main celebrations were held at Piazza del Plebiscito, considered Naples’ largest and most historic square. Thousands of fans gathered to witness the sports legends up close and be part of the historic moments connected to the Olympic flame.

It has been reported that the relay for the Olympic flame has been temporarily paused until December 26 due to Christmas celebrations. On December 23, the flame was carried through the ancient ruins of Pompeii, with famous actor Jackie Chan also taking part in the event. This marked his third participation in an Olympic flame relay.

As a reminder, the XXV Winter Olympic Games will take place from February 6 to 22 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Around 3,500 athletes from over 90 countries are expected to participate in the competition. Notably, this Olympics will feature alpine skiing mountaineering as a medal event for the first time.

Fabio Cannavaro’s participation in this ceremony not only highlights his prestige in Italy but also demonstrates the growing international recognition of Uzbekistan’s football scene.
