Chelsea advanced through relatively easier opponents. The London side beat Charlton Athletic 5:1, Hull City 4:0, Wrexham 4:2, Port Vale 7:0 and in the semifinal defeated Leeds United 1:0 to reach the decisive stage.
Historically, Arsenal have won the FA Cup the most times, with 14 victories. Manchester United are next with 13 trophies, while Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are all credited with 8 cups each. If Chelsea win this final, they could move higher in the rankings.
The match is also of major importance for Manchester City. If they win, they will take their trophy tally to 8 and further cement their place among the elite clubs.
Interestingly, Uzbek defender Abduqodir Husanov could also take part in this final. He won the League Cup with City this season, claiming his first major trophy. Now another historic opportunity lies ahead of him.
