A mod bringing back Timothy Gibbs’ look for Max Payne 3 has been released

Max Payne fans have argued for years that the protagonist’s appearance changed drastically in the third game. While James McCaffrey delivered a great performance, many players missed the “classic” Timothy Gibbs look from Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Now that nostalgia has effectively become reality thanks to a major project by modder Alexsavvy. This was reported by playground.ru .

While many modern mods rely on neural networks or deepfake solutions, Alexsavvy’s Timoti Gibbs Mod stands out for its handcrafted work and attention to the smallest details.

One of Max Payne 3’s strongest features was its injury and damage system. The mod preserves this “legacy”: 21 different facial materials are used, the wounds Max takes in the early chapters gradually heal as the story progresses, and new bruises and cuts appear in strict accordance with the script.

The mod also includes 14 different hairstyle variants. The author didn’t simply copy Gibbs’ classic hairdo, but reworked it to match the game’s stages—from the messy New Jersey look to the iconic shaved cut in Brazil’s slums. Even the natural growth of hair and stubble toward the finale is depicted realistically.

Alexsavvy modeled the actor’s head from scratch and perfectly fitted it to the Max Payne 3 engine. As a result, the “weird” artificial feel is reduced, and the swap looks like an official Rockstar Games update.

The mod can be downloaded for free for Max Payne 3. A video showing how it works is also provided.
