Greater Bay Technology created 500 Wh/kg batteries

The startup "Greater Bay Technology", an incubator for the automotive giant "GAC Group", has developed prototype all-solid-state batteries. The company claims to have solved the critical balance between safety, energy density, and charging speed. Reports Overclockers.ru.
Engineers created a hybrid electrolyte combining organic and inorganic components. Unlike existing alternatives using fragile ceramics or toxic sulfides, this non-flammable material passed nail penetration and thermal shock tests. The battery offers an energy density between 260 and 500 Wh/kg, significantly exceeding the 250-300 Wh/kg range of current lithium-ion cells.
The technology enables a full charge in 20 to 30 minutes while maintaining a lifespan comparable to traditional batteries. "Greater Bay Technology" has already filed over 50 patents regarding its electrolyte formulas and manufacturing processes.
Mass production is scheduled for the end of 2026 at a facility in the Nansha district of Guangzhou. The first units will be installed in vehicles from "Hyptec", the premium sub-brand of "GAC". As of March 2026, the company held a 0.37% share of the Chinese market with 0.21 GWh of installed capacity.
