22-year-old border guard shot himself

On April 7 of this year, at the Irkeshtam border post located in Osh city of Kyrgyzstan, a 22-year-old serviceman attempted to take his own life.

According to information, the contract serviceman was taken to the medical facility of Nura village with a gunshot wound to the head area. After receiving first emergency medical aid, he was urgently transferred to the hospital in Gulcha city, which is the district center.
Doctor Doyirbek Kodirov provided information about the victim’s condition. According to him, emergency brain surgery was performed on the border guard by specialists from Osh.
According to preliminary information, the bullet hit the jaw area and exited through blood vessels near the eye. The patient is currently in a coma, connected to a ventilator, and his condition is assessed as very critical.
An expert examination has been appointed regarding the incident, and the military prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause. The State Border Service reported that serviceman I.A. fired a shot from an AK-74 automatic rifle. A service investigation has also been launched regarding this case.
