Google and Gucci will launch AI glasses in 2027

Luxury fashion house "Gucci" announced plans to release AI-powered smart glasses in collaboration with "Google" by 2027. This move marks the first time a major luxury brand has entered the artificial intelligence eyewear market, positioning the product as a direct competitor to the "Ray-Ban" smart glasses developed by "EssilorLuxottica" and "Meta". Reports 3dnews.ru.
This initiative represents "Google"'s second attempt to penetrate the wearable glasses market following the failure of "Google Glass" over a decade ago. The company is also expected to launch its first Android XR-based glasses, currently known as "Project Aura", later this year.
Industry analysts suggest that style is critical for the adoption of smart eyewear. While "Google" has previously partnered with brands like "Warby Parker" and "Gentle Monster", a collaboration with "Gucci" provides the prestige necessary to compete with "Meta". "Snap" CEO Evan Spiegel noted that partnering with fashion labels allows tech companies to leverage established brand names, suggesting that consumers are less likely to want corporate tech logos visible on their faces.
