Born in Almelo on January 17, 2008, Nijstad previously attracted interest from "AC Milan" and "Juventus" before committing to "FC Twente". He made his first-team debut in October 2025 during a local derby against "Heracles", where he earned the man of the match award.
Nijstad has since become a regular starter, often displacing the club captain. His rise included a standout performance in a victory over "Ajax" in April and his first professional goal shortly after.
The teenager has admitted that a move to another club could happen soon as he continues to impress with his defensive capabilities and composure under pressure.
