Experts note that modern mobile applications, especially on the Android system, constantly run in the background and collect various user data — telemetry information and advertising-related data. This, in turn, reduces the overall performance speed of the smartphone and leads to faster battery drain.
As it turns out, among the applications that consume the most resources, social media platforms take the leading positions. For example, services such as Facebook, TikTok, and X analyze user interests and collect and process large volumes of data in order to suggest personalized content.
In addition, streaming services also create a significant load on the device. Platforms like Netflix and Spotify store data in cache memory, which helps improve performance; however, over time this cache becomes full, causing the smartphone to slow down.
Navigation applications such as Google Maps and Waze also pre-store maps and route data in order to function without internet access. This process requires constant use of memory and processor resources.
Weather applications are also among the resource-intensive ones. Services such as Pixel Weather, Weather Underground, and Weawow continuously update meteorological data, use internet traffic, and gradually drain battery power.
According to scientists, controlling these processes can significantly improve smartphone performance.
