Mazda electric vehicles begin to displace gasoline models in China

At the Beijing Auto Show, Mazda confirmed a shift in its strategy for the Chinese market. The company's senior director Toryu Nakadzima announced that the brand is resolutely entering the era of electrification. Ixbt.com reports on this.

The joint venture in China is close to surpassing classic gasoline models in terms of sales of New Energy Vehicles (NEV). In the first quarter of this year, the share of NEV models reached 47 percent.

The company's previous attempts, specifically the MX-30 and CX-30 EV models, failed to achieve market success. However, the partnership with Changan and the transition to the EPA platform have fundamentally changed the situation.

As part of the new strategy, models such as the EZ-6 and CX-6e are being produced. These vehicles are offered in both fully electric and range-extender hybrid versions.

In the future, Mazda models are expected to be based on Chinese technologies.
