Microsoft has launched the world's largest data center designed for artificial intelligence (AI) ahead of schedule. Located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, the "Fairwater" facility is a unique complex specifically built for training AI models and running large-scale applications. Ixbt.com reports on this.
The new facility covers an area of approximately 1.3 million square meters. The construction process utilized 74.5 km of foundation piles, 13,000 tons of structural steel, and over 200 km of electrical cabling. Unlike standard cloud centers, this complex is designed as a single massive supercomputer integrating hundreds of thousands of the latest "Nvidia Blackwell" graphics processors.
According to the company, this center provides performance 10 times higher than the world's fastest supercomputer today. This will allow AI training and data processing tasks to reach unprecedented levels. Although exact figures have not been disclosed, the use of hundreds of thousands of "Blackwell" accelerators is expected to make a major breakthrough in the industry.
