Hyundai to supply 27,200 horsepower engines to the US

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has signed a major contract with the U.S. company Aperion Energy Group to supply power generation systems for data centers. The total value of the deal exceeds $400 million, and the equipment will have a combined capacity of 684 megawatts. This was reported by Ixbt.com reports.
This contract has become the largest deal in the company’s history for engine supply.
Under the project, the South Korean giant will provide its HiMSEN engines. Each of these units operates at approximately 20 MW, or 27,200 horsepower.
This move marks Hyundai’s entry into a new segment — the data center market, where demand is growing rapidly amid the development of artificial intelligence and cloud services.
According to Han Joo-seok, head of the company’s engine and machinery division, the contract is important for strengthening its position in the North American market. Hyundai now plans to actively develop not only shipbuilding and heavy machinery, but also energy solutions that support digital infrastructure.
HiMSEN engines are the company’s in-house development and are widely used on ships and power plants. These four-stroke engines can run on diesel, gas, or a combination of the two, and are known for their high efficiency.
