A radical change in medical education: qualifications, accreditation and a transparent assessment system are being introduced
The next serious steps are being taken to reform the medical sector in Uzbekistan. The issues of medical education, training of qualified personnel and accreditation were discussed in detail at a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Admission rates increased by 4.5 times

It was reported at the meeting that over the past seven years, admission to medical universities has increased by 4.5 times - today, 25 thousand young people begin their studies in medical specialties every year. Interestingly, 40 percent of them study at private higher educational institutions.

Although this situation indicates that competition and opportunities in training personnel have expanded, the quality of education and practical knowledge are still on the agenda as a leading issue.

Transparency in assessment will be ensured

As the President noted, until now, graduation exams have been conducted by universities, but national standards and mechanisms for objectively assessing knowledge and practical skills have not been formed.

Therefore, now the mastery of modern diagnostic and treatment methods of graduates of medical universities and technical schools will be assessed on the basis of a separate and transparent system.

National Center for Medical Assessment to be established

A special National Center for Medical Assessment will be established to implement this updated system. This center will work in partnership with internationally recognized organizations, ensuring a strong connection between education and practice.

In addition, all state and private clinics will be accredited - this will allow them to accurately determine their educational and service potential.

Professional development and uniform standards will be developed

At the same time, regular professional development of doctors and nurses will be carried out through universities, specialized centers and regional medical institutions. For this, the authorities were instructed to develop uniform qualification requirements and standards.

The Zamin.uz editorial office assesses these innovations as an important step towards the development of the medical sector in our country based on modern requirements. This serves as a reliable guarantee of quality not only for industry officials, but also for every patient.
