Those who make flowers from money can now be officially imprisoned

In Kenya, a sharp warning was issued against the practice of making bouquets from cash on the eve of Valentine's Day. In a statement issued on February 14, the country's Central Bank reminded that the use of banknotes as bouquets and gift decorations is illegal. CNN reported this.

It has been reported that there has been an increase in cases of using shilling banknotes as a decoration for bouquets in Kenya recently. This can negatively affect the integrity of the national currency. The reason is that securing banknotes with glue, staple, or needles damages them and renders them unusable.

As a result, such banknotes may be rejected during processing, and banknotes may have to be withdrawn and replaced prematurely.

The Central Bank, emphasizing that it is not against presenting cash as a gift, stated that in such cases it is necessary to refrain from any actions that could lead to the alteration, destruction, or damage of banknotes.

In accordance with Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Kenya, it is prohibited to intentionally damage, damage, or render currency banknotes unusable. Individuals found guilty of this violation may face up to 3 months in prison, a fine of 2,000 shillings (approximately $15.5 USD), or both penalties.
