2026 has been designated as the Year of Training Youth in Vocational Skills and Modern Competencies in Uzbekistan. On September 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this important initiative during a meeting with teachers and mentors in the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region.
The head of state emphasized the importance of young people not limiting themselves to only theoretical knowledge, but also mastering professional skills and foreign languages.
According to the data, $30-35 billion in investments will be attracted to the country's economy annually, and thousands of new enterprises will be established and begin operations. As a result, it is planned to create 250,000-300,000 high-income jobs each year. To ensure that young people can effectively utilize these opportunities, the Vocational Education Agency will be established, and international standards will be implemented in 598 technical colleges across the country.
Over the next year, modern educational programs from advanced countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Korea, China, and Great Britain will be introduced in 100 technical colleges. Additionally, any interested student will have the opportunity to take international qualification exams in technical colleges and obtain an international certificate. Currently, in cooperation with the British company "Pearson," the "BTEC" program has been launched in 14 technical colleges.
During the President's dialogue, it was noted that the coverage of dual education will be expanded fivefold, the number of foreign language classes in technical colleges will be increased fourfold, preferential loans of up to 5 billion soums will be allocated for partner enterprises, and a digital platform containing information about technical college graduates will be launched from 2026. These measures will significantly increase the level of professional training and labor market readiness of young people, creating a solid foundation for their future effective and productive activities.
It is clear that 2026 will be recorded in history as the Year of New Opportunities for Youth. Now each graduate, based on their interests and abilities, will acquire modern knowledge and professional skills, which will significantly boost the development of the country's economy and the effectiveness of youth activities.
