Shavkat Mirziyoyev Awards Doctors


President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded doctors who have contributed to the development of healthcare with orders and medals. Among the recipients are young specialists who studied abroad and returned to work in the country.

The head of state expressed gratitude to more than 600,000 medical workers and acknowledged the results of reforms in the healthcare sector. For the first time, kidney transplantation surgeries are being conducted in 45 districts of the country.

In recent years, 230 trillion soums (approximately 20 billion US dollars) have been allocated to healthcare, with 45 trillion soums invested in the current year alone. This represents a sixfold increase compared to 2016.

In various regions, 187 new hospitals and clinics have been opened, while 1,244 medical facilities were renovated and equipped with modern technology. The capacity of primary healthcare has increased by 60 percent.

More than 400 complex diagnostic and treatment methods previously implemented only in Tashkent are now available nationwide. The average life expectancy in Uzbekistan has improved: for men, it has increased from 71 to 73 years, and for women, from 76 to 77.5 years.
