Leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed bilateral cooperation
On December 29, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Turkmen People's Council Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov held a phone conversation. During the talk, the leaders congratulated each other on the upcoming New Year and wished for peace, prosperity, and well-being.

The conversation covered ways to further develop friendship, good neighborliness, and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. It was noted that trade and transport volumes are increasing, and cooperation in energy, industry, agriculture, water management, and transport is expanding.

It was also highlighted that the “Shovot-Toshhovuz” border trade zone has been launched, and interregional, business, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges have intensified. Regional cooperation issues were also discussed.

The head of state noted the successful holding of major summits in Avaza and the forum in Ashgabat. Plans for jointly organizing international and regional events next year were also discussed.
