Uzbekistan to establish the Academy of Sciences Fund

In Uzbekistan, the Academy of Sciences Fund will start operating on January 1, 2026. The new structure is envisioned as a key mechanism for financially supporting the science sector. It is expected that this will provide scientists with clear resources to turn their ideas into applied projects. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.

The Fund is being established by a presidential decision aimed at modernizing the Academy of Sciences’ activities. According to the plans, the number of new developments and the revenue generated from them will be tripled, and the share of young researchers will be raised to 60%. Integration between science and industry will also be strengthened, and the scope of international cooperation will be expanded.

The document also предусматривает support for strategically important research and innovative initiatives, as well as the launch of sustainable funding for young scientists. These measures are expected to help bring back members of the scientific diaspora from abroad to Uzbekistan and engage them in the development of national science.

At the same time, the Academy of Sciences’ infrastructure will be expanded: the Advanced Technologies Center and the International Center for Molecular Allergology will be transferred into the system. Regional branches of the academy will be opened in Namangan, Samarkand, and Termez, and a regional office of the International Science Council will be established in Central Asia. The National Archaeology Center will be transformed into the Institute of Anthropology.

Earlier, it was also reported that a new institute for theoretical physicists would be opened in Tashkent.
